The above picture is a great view of the entire Downingtown Blue and Gold Band, over 300 members strong. The combined band not only played the National Anthem, but also treated the enthusiastic crowd to their parade tune and a variety of pep songs. (Photo – Mary Ann Otto)
The Evening was an awesome success!
We hosted 14 marching bands with grace and friendly hospitality. The concessions provided the delicious food that we have come to expect from them. The Candy Grams and the Programs sales were brisk and energetic. Our 50/50 team crisscrossed Kottmeyer Stadium in their eye catching garb. The crowd control crew professionally kept the audience sight lines open during band performances. The student escorts did not lose a single band 😉
And….. both East and West had great performances. Please take the time to watch the You Tube links below.

Thank you to all the volunteers!
We had so many of you working on Saturday. I know it was a long day. Our legs and feet were tired, and we were hot at 5pm then cold by 9pm. We were sweaty, we were stressed and then it all came together. By my estimate, we had 70 dedicated, tireless volunteers that did everything from frying french fries and selling programs to pushing a dead golf cart through the parking lot. You performed amazing and so did our students. The positive energy of the night gave me goose bumps. I know we all do it for our kids, but I personally want to thank all of you for working so hard to make the cavalcade such a wonderful evening for me and my family and for Downingtown.
