The Downingtown High School Music Parents Association (DHS-MPA) is made up of parents and guardians of students involved in any of the Downingtown High School music programs, including Marching Bands, Concert Band, Symphonic Band and ensembles, String Orchestra and ensembles, Vocal Choirs and ensembles, Indoor Drumline, and Color Guard. Our mission is to provide program support as a supplemental resource independent of local budget provisions in order to maintain the existence and the integrity of the music programs at all of the Downingtown High Schools, including the Downingtown East Campus, the Downingtown West Campus and the STEM Academy. Through supplemental funding, the MPA is is able to provide the following types of supports to our music programs:
- Uniforms: Tuxes, gowns, color guard uniforms, and cumberbunds to supplement the band uniforms.
- Equipment: Instruments for band and orchestra; flags, banners, and poles for color guard; and pitch pipes and metronomes for choir.
- Supplemental staffing such as guard and drumline instructors.
- Funding for clinics and masterclasses.
- Awards, plaques, photo plaques, and flowers for senior recognition.
- Educational software, media supplies, and recording equipment.
- Accounting fees, office supplies, and postage.
- Equipping the music department’s trucks and trailers.
- Concert sponsors.
- Food for receptions and refreshments at concerts.
- Food, supplies, equipment, etc. for the concession stands
- Food for bands and football teams at football games.
- Nurses and chaperones.
- Scholarship funds.
